Ellie and Garry’s Wedding.

I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot my Nieces Wedding last Saturday which was an honour for me, the day went off without a hitch and the weather gods were kind to say the least.

If truth be told I think they got a little excited as the weather was astounding and myself and fellow photographer Tony almost melted due to the heat.

The Church and Reception Venue plus the overall day could not have gone better, and a great time was had by everyone including the Happy Couple.

As of yet I have not sorted and processed all of the images however I have managed to get a few completed for this blog entry, I must also apologise for the lack of entries over the last couple of months work and family commitments prevented me from finding additional time to add any images or post, however things should be returning to normal now so watch this space for more posts.

Below is a small gallery of images if you click on one of the images it will open full size and you will be able to navigate through the gallery with the controls at the bottom right of the image.

Wildlife In The Sunshine.

After a week stuck in London, decided to grab the camera and have a wander to see what wildlife I could capture. So armed with 70-200 and a 2X TC out I ventured.

Hope you like images, I have tried to put a variety in the slideshow.

Simple Everyday Subjects.

I often just grab the camera pull on my walking boots and head off for a good long wander through the country lanes around my area. It is amazing what you can spot whilst enjoying an afternoon stroll.

The face, the whole face, and nothing but the face !

Continuing on from recent posts relating to portraits here are some additional portraits which are nothing but the face.

Trying to remove any other distractions from the image apart from the subjects features. Some may feel that with out eye contact one of the images does not work, but do you really need eye contact for the image to work. I feel this image captures the moment, showing the subject lost in thought.

Candid Portraits... Get them on the Hop

The last post displayed portraits taken in the home using a blank wall to produce a nice clean white background, however I do like to catch people enjoying themselves whilst at events or just during everyday life.

Here is a selection of images from various events ranging from Weddings, Parties to Festivals/Events. I enjoy waiting for a moment to capture that brings a little more to the images and captures just that little bit more of the person in the image. Saying that sometimes all you capture is the person with nothing more added.

Portrait Photography a Definition !

Portrait photography is a popular commercial industry all over the world. Many people enjoy having professionally made family portraits to hang in their homes, or special portraits to commemorate certain events, such as graduations or weddings.

Since the dawn of photography, people have made portraits. The popularity of the daguerreotype in the middle of the 19th century was due in large part to the demand for inexpensive portraiture. Studios sprang up in cities around the world, some cranking out more than 500 plates a day. The style of these early works reflected the technical challenges associated with 30-second exposure times and the painterly aesthetic of the time. Subjects were generally seated against plain backgrounds and lit with the soft light of an overhead window and whatever else could be reflected with mirrors.

The above information is the definition of a portrait from Wikipedia, but what is the portrait now, how has it evolved.

Well one major change is the environment that clients want the portraits taken, instead of the old stuffy studio now everyone either want the photographer to come to them and shoot in there home or for the portraits to be taken in the outside world.

So now instead of the issues of setting up your lighting in the studio, now you have the challenge of finding a background to shoot on in someones home, or a vista or scene that is not going to overwhelm the image and remove the focus from the subjects of the portrait.

Below are some recent family portraits taken in the family’s home, utilising a blank wall after moving a sofa, in the next post I will post some images that I would class as wedding candids and some portraits captured in the great outdoors, which everyone is now calling lifestyle portraiture.
