A Little Bit Of Movement…..
Whilst out wandering the other day, wondering when the snow would finally stop and the thaw would set in, I remembered an article I saw on either the web or in a magazine relating to movement of the camera whilst exposures were being taken.
Now normally we fight with all our might to eliminate this from out shots trying to get perfect sharpness in our shots, we spend years honing our camera technique to eliminate camera shake. It gets to the point where we are constantly evaluating our grip stance and camera operation techniques to try and remove the problems that introduce issues and subsequent problems.
The technique that I tried whilst on my wander through a recently planted part of the Leeds Castle grounds is vertical movement whilst using a slow shutter speed. If used correctly this method can produce some very interesting images, I guess this could also be used with horizontal movement as well if the scene allowed.
So here is my shot that I liked from the experiment.
Whilst experimenting with this method I had to constantly fight with myself to ensure I moved the camera during the exposure, now this sounds like the simplest thing in the world but when you consider that we spend years upon years conditioning ourselves to prevent this from happening it can be quite problematic to get the precise movement you want at the right time.
Why not give it a go and see what you can come up with, you could also leave me a comment on this post with the location of your shot and I will pop by and have a look.
Rainy Day Colours & Close Ups.
Well following on from my last post of nothing but feathers I thought this post should be something a little different so it is all about colours and nature, all of which are again from Leeds Castle and taken whilst the weather was overcast and rainy, so a normal day for Kent.
Some of the imageswhere taken with the trusty 90mm Tamron macro others with others from the bag of tricks.
