Well as previously mentioned I was visiting a location where a wreck of a fishing vessel is visible at low tide.

Now my intention for this visit was to try some long exposures down by the water line, with the added bonus of trying out my new Manfrotto Snow Shoes for the tripod. Well the visit was a success on one front any way, the snow shoes performed great and there was not camera movement or tripod sinkage the whole time I was there.

Now for the failure……. not enough light to achieve what i was hoping for, I did experiment a little whilst I was there however there was not enough workable light around and to achieve an image I was at shooting at ISO 800 @ ƒ5.6 for a duration of 3 Minutes. Now as you can imagine those were not the ideal combination I was hoping for.

Due to the duration of the exposure I was getting far to much movement in the stars and not enough detail in the wreck or the foreground.

So do I class this as a complete waste of a Sunday evening???? not at all, I have managed to find the perfect parking place, I know how long it will take me to walk to the location of the wreck, and I have all ready visualised the exact shot I want to achieve from this location.

In addition I found out one more hugely useful piece of information which outweighs all of the other information gathered this evening……… Its time to buy some new boots and mine have started to leak!!!!

So all have to do now is be patient and wait for the right combination of Date ~ Time ~ Tide and finally light.

In my opinion that makes it quite a productive Sunday for me despite the fact I have not managed to capture a useable frame of the wreck tonight.
